Camping Essentials: Outdoor Shower Reviews

One of the things I miss most when out on a camping trip is a hot shower.  Bucket showers are ok, but they just aren’t as nice, and cold showers are definitely not as comfortable. The solution to the problem is one of these modern portable shower options. The following list offers a few different options that are appropriate depending on where you are camping.

Advanced Elements 5 gal. Summer Shower

This is a 5-gallon outdoor shower with solar technology. While it may not be like a full shower at home, it certainly offers you a warm shower option at an affordable price. This shower is made with 4-ply construction and has a reflector and insulator panel. This offers an easy on/off showerhead option with a large filling valve. There is also a side pocket for soap and shampoo. Buy it on Amazon here.

ZODI Outback Gear Extreme SC Hot Shower

This is a powerhouse shower, but well worth the price. The Zodi Extreme heats water very fast and the stainless steel construction offers durability— no worrying about punctures here. It has a hand pump for self-contained use and comes with a 10,000 BTU stove; no batteries needed. Just fill the tank with water, place it on the tripod stove and heat it. Pressurize the tank with the hand pump and enjoy a hot shower. The stove can be used for outdoor cooking as well. Buy it on Amazon here.

Camp Chef Triton Hot Water Heater – 5L

When you’re at a campground with electrical outlets you might want to try the Camp Chef Triton. This heater offers 1.5 gallons per minute of on-demand hot water. The heat is fully adjustable and there are four settings for the shower head.  It comes with an 8 foot water hose that you can stand on its own or hang on an outer wall.  You just need to turn on the water. The drawback is that you need 2 D batteries for the heater. Buy it on Amazon here.
